Lisa Towning said: “This is not the first time I have participated in an event organized by them, and each event is meaningful. Not only did they rescue many stray animals, help them find homes, but they also told us to love our pets and protect Animals and the idea of adopting instead of buying. I am fortunate to have such an organization that helps thousands of stray animals, not just cats and dogs, but also cattle, sheep and chickens. “

Founded in 1896, the Newcastle Cat and Dog Shelter helps thousands of lost, unwanted, neglected, abused and abandoned animals every year. Its goal is to promote friendliness and prevent animal cruelty. They reunite with the lost animals, with their owners, and find a new home of love for those who no longer want it.

Between April 1, 2016 and March 31, 2017, the UK processed 66,277 stray dogs. This is an 18% reduction from the 81,050 dogs in the same period from 2015 to 2016. The chart below shows the estimated number of stray dogs processed annually in the UK since 1997. The number of reported stray dogs has fallen again for the sixth consecutive year, and is now the lowest point since the start of the tracing, but at a slower rate, but this year continues to decline. There are currently 56,043 stray dogs in the UK in 2019. The number of stray dogs collected by British local authorities is the lowest level in 21 years, which is 15% lower than last year. However, more needs to be done to protect them and prevent these dogs from wandering.
